Use flashcards!

In these days of hi-tech gizmos and gadgets, it's hard to believe that the lowly flashcard is still one of your most powerful learning tools, but it's true. Just buy a pack of 3 X 5 index cards and start out by writing a Spanish word on one side and the English translation on the other side. Later, you can start writing whole sentences.

If you're serious about learning, you've got to start using flashcards!

You can always carry a few cards with you, and so you can take advantage of time that would otherwise be wasted standing in line, sitting in traffic, waiting for class to start, etc. Remember Tip #3? Consistency! All you need is a minute or two. In that minute, you can review and reinforce things you have already learned, but have not yet been cemented firmly in your long term memory. If you have three or four minutes, you can probably even begin learning a couple of new words and phrases.
